The play firm works great! A few things we did a little differently.

to keep it warmer we filled the walls with spray in cream insulation, but be conscientious get the stuff that does non expand as much or the walls volition push out ( opps) . You lot may need to drill a couple more holes in to become the entire wall filled, but it took about 6 cans to fully fill the house. Practise the shutters and the doors as well and don't forget to do the roof.
For the windows we merely got some plexi drinking glass and using canvas rock screws we screwed the window on and so the wind didn't come in, on the other house we used cloth screen, information technology worked well too, but they were not equally concerned of the cold.
Call up to run your lightbulb into the house so it says warm plenty for them.

To connect the walls together we didn't utilize the Fifty brackets, although that is a expert idea too.. we used wagon bolts, with washers, just drill thru the walls where they lock into each other, put on the washers, recall this is but plastic and lock it together
want to continue it from blowing over? We used 6x6 to heighten it up off the ground, put in a hook and put the heart ( once again using a nut and washer on the firm itself, now nosotros only accept to flip our hook and eye off, tilt information technology on the side and wash it out with the hose.... oh yep, nosotros drilled holes in the bottom of the house and so the wetness didn't sit in the bottom. We havae seen others use cinder blocks and use tie downward straps wrapped around the house, that looked like it would work well.
For another friend nosotros did information technology another style, we made a tray out of woods, stapled ( using the kind of staples y'all hammer in) in the metal material and ready the play house within of the tray, so we drilled the holes thru the tray sides besides as the house and but slip our bolts into the house, holds it squeamish and snug and comes out easily.
found both our houses on the side of the adjourn.

What we like is that information technology is inexpensive, it is a "green " way of doing information technology and it is light enough for usa to move effectually if nosotros want to

If you don't want it to look like a play house anymore, recall that they make spray paint that paints onto plastic, merely I am not certain if the chicken will peck at it, but people paint thier coups so why non paint it gray or brown or any color you lot similar?

We have this exact same play house and I am wanting to catechumen it into a coop. Can you give me a few more details? How did you attach a roosting bar (what did y'all use?)? I encounter a nesting box, what did you use for that? How many chickens could I keep in it if they are permit out everyday into a fenced g? What kind of screws did you use that worked with the wood of the box and frame and the plastic of the play house? You lot are inspiring me!! Thank you for the aid.

Happy to share any info I accept:
Start, here are some photos that I took a couple of years ago, when we were building the coop and run.

We've made several changes to the coop since and so.

It's getting too dark outside for me to run out and snap some new photos, but I will do and so tomorrow and send them to you.

I'll too inquire my DH what sort of glues, nails, etc., that he used for the structure and installation of the nest box and will ship yous that info.

Nosotros congenital the nest box to fit the dimensions of the big opening on the side of the playhouse, and used an erstwhile spare storm window that nosotros had to close upwardly the large opening on the back of the playhouse. The storm window sits in a lilliputian channel that's on the lesser of the window sill and two little tabs that swivel out of the way keep the top of the storm window in place. I tin slide the window to the left or right near an inch to allow some ventilation there in Spring and Autumn, just information technology stays shut all Winter, and is completely removed all Summer. (I'll take pictures tomorrow of it open up, closed and removed, so you tin can run across what I mean.)

Note in the fifth photo that we deliberately left a big space at the height of the roof so there's always enough of ventilation.

I've had as many every bit four chickens sleeping on the roost boards inside the playhouse: 1 EE, one Marans, and two Delawares. The Marans is a pretty expert sized bird; the Delawares are huge compared to the EE, only all are standard sized hens, no bantams.

The EE is gone now, and I'm looking for two buff orpington pullets to add together to the threesome.
